Bill 225 Mr. Wickman BILL 225 1995 LOTTERIES AMENDMENT ACT, 1995 (Assented to , 1995) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, enacts as follows: 1 The Interprovincial Lottery Act is amended by this Act. 2 The following is added after

section 6: 6.1(1) The Minister shall, within 1 month of the date upon which the estimates pertaining to the Lottery Fund are tabled in the Legislative Assembly, conduct meetings with representatives of the municipalities in Alberta and solicit representations from the public on the following: (

a) the financial requirements of the municipalities with respect to the Lottery Fund, including the advisability of making per capita grants out of the Lottery Fund to each municipality, (

b) the need to maintain funding to existing on-going programs funded out of the Lottery Fund, including the Wild Rose Foundation, Agricultural Societies, Alberta Sport, Recreation, Parks and Wildlife Foundation, Alberta Foundation for the Arts, Alberta Historical Resources Foundation, Alberta Multiculturalism Commission, and Services for Problem Gamblers, 1

Explanatory Notes 1 Amends

chapter I-8 of the Revised Statutes of Alberta, 1980. 1

(

c) the advisability of transferring Lottery Fund monies into the General Revenue Fund; (

d) the desirability of applying Lottery Fund monies to retiring the Crown debt.

(2) The Minister shall table a report setting out in detail the proceedings of the meetings referred to in subsection one, including any submissions received, in the Legislative Assembly, within 6 weeks of the date upon which the estimates pertaining to the Lottery Fund are tabled in the Legislative Assembly. 3 This Act comes into force upon Proclamation. 2 Title: 1995 (23rd, 3rd) Bill 225, Lotteries Amendment Act, 1995
