Section 1 of the Police Act,

chapter P-9.2 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1977, is amended 1 L’article 1 de la

a) by repealing the definition “representative” and substituting the following:

a) when used in relation to a member of a police force,

i) a lawyer who is a member of the Law Society of New Brunswick entitled to practise law in the courts of the Province, (

c) remains in office until the mem ‐ ber resigns or is replaced, even if the member’s term of office referred to in subsection (6) has expired. 7(6.11)

8 The Act is amended by adding after

section 13.1 the following: 8 La Loi est modifiée par l’adjonction de ce qui suit après l’article 13.1 : Court liaison officers supporting special constables Appui des constables spéciaux par les agents de liaison avec les tribunaux 13.11(1) For the purposes of this section, a “court liai ‐ son officer” means a person who performs an adminis ‐ trative function to support special constables in their work with the courts, including swearing to an informa ‐ tion before a judge of the provincial court. 13.11(1) Aux fins d’application du présent article, « agent de liaison avec les tribunaux » s’entend de toute personne qui exerce une fonction administrative pour ap‐ puyer les constables spéciaux dans leur travail auprès des tribunaux, y compris la dénonciation sous serment devant un juge de la cour provinciale. 13.11(2) The Executive Director may appoint a person employed under the Minister, other than a special con ‐ stable, as a court liaison officer. 13.11(2)

a) be in writing, and

b) specify the responsibilities and powers of the Executive Director.

17.05(5.1) Despite the expiry of the ten-year period re‐ ferred to in subsection (5), but subject to subsections (4.1) and (8), a member of a regional policing authority remains in office until the member resigns or is replaced, even if the member’s term of office referred to in sub ‐ section (4) has expired. 17.05(5.1)

Section 17.2 of the Act is amended by adding after subsection (5.1) the following: 11 L’article 17.2 de la Loi est modifié par l’adjonc ‐ tion de ce qui suit après le paragraphe (5.1) : 17.2(5.11) Despite the expiry of the ten-year period re‐ ferred to in subsection (5.1), but subject to subsections (5.01) and (8), a member of a joint board referred to in subparagraph 17.1(2)(d)(

i) or (ii) remains in office until the member resigns or is replaced, even if the member’s term of office referred to in subsection (5) has expired. 17.2(5.11)

Part III, if a person has a complaint relating to any aspect of the responsibilities or powers of a special constable, the person may state their complaint in writing to the chair of the Commission. 22(1.1)

Section 25.1 of the Act is amended 19 L’article 25.1 de la Loi est modifié (

a) by adding after subsection (3) the following:
