An Act to Repeal the Married Woman’s Property Act Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, enacts as fol- lows: 1(1) The Married Woman’s Property Act,

chapter M-4 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is repealed. 1(2) For greater certainty, the repeal of the Married Woman’s Property Act under subsection (1) of this amending Act (

a) does not create or re-establish any inequality be- tween men and women, whether married or unmar- ried, and (

b) shall not be construed so as to revive any enact- ment, regulation or thing not in force or existing on the commencement of that subsection. CONSEQUENTIAL AMENDMENTS Devolution of Estates Act 2

Section 33 of the Devolution of Estates Act,

chapter D-9 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is repealed. PROJET DE LOI 39 Loi abrogeant la

Loi sur les biens de la femme mariée en vertu du paragraphe (1) de la présente loi modificative n’a pas pour effet :

a) d’engendrer ou de rétablir une inégalité entre les hommes et les femmes, qu’ils soient mariés ou non;

b) de remettre en vigueur un texte législatif, un rè- glement ou une chose qui n’est pas en vigueur ou qui n’existe pas au moment où ce paragraphe entre en vi- gueur. MODIFICATIONS CORRÉLATIVES

Loi sur la dévolution des successions 2 L’article 33 de la

Loi sur la dévolution des succes- sions,

chapitre D-9 des Lois révisées de 1973, est abrogé.

Schedule B of the Judicature Act,

chapter J-2 of the Revised Statutes, 1973, is amended by striking out “Mar- ried Woman’s Property Act”. COMMENCEMENT 4 This Act comes into force on August 1, 2006.
