FAMILY RELATIONS ACT
AMENDMENT ACT (No. 2), 1997
(GRANDPARENTS' RIGHTS)
HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province
of British Columbia, enacts as follows:
Section 24 (1) (
c) of the Family Relations Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 128, is amended to read:
(
c) the love, affection and similar ties that exist between the child and other
persons, including grandparents;"
Section 35 is amended by adding the following subsection:
(5) An order for access may include access to the extended family members of
the child, including grandparents.
3 This Act comes into force by regulation of the Lieutenant Governor
in Council.
