OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated November 29, 2005, and pursuant to
Section 3 of
Chapter 28 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Auditor General Act, as amended by
Chapter 13 of the Acts of 2005, the Auditor General Act (amended),
Section 10 of
Chapter 70 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Civil Service Act, and
Section 20 of
Chapter 377 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Superannuation Act, is pleased, subject to the approval of the House of Assembly, to: (
a) revoke the appointment of E. Roy Salmon as Auditor General effective February 28, 2006; (
b) appoint Jacques Lapointe as Auditor General for a term of office of ten years effective March 1, 2006; (
c) fix and determine the salary of Jacques Lapointe to be at the rate of $145,000 per annum plus any economic adjustments provided to non-bargaining unit civil servants; (
d) designate Jacques Lapointe as a deputy head within the meaning of the Civil Service Act; (
e) direct that Jacques Lapointe shall receive all customary benefits associated with the position of deputy head including participation in the Province of Nova Scotia Long Term Disability Plan; (
f) appoint E. Roy Salmon as Special Advisor to the Auditor General for a term commencing March 1, 2006 and ending March 31, 2006; (
g) fix and determine the salary of E. Roy Salmon as Special Advisor to be at the rate of $5,381.85 bi-weekly; (
h) determine that E. Roy Salmon, working as Special Advisor to the Auditor General, is an employee for purposes of the Public Service Superannuation Act; and (
i) direct that E. Roy Salmon shall receive all customary benefits associated with the position of a deputy head including participation in the Province of Nova Scotia Long Term Disability Plan.
