B.C. Reg. 218/2012 , deposited July 19, 2012, pursuant to the FOOD SAFETY ACT [section 23 (20) (y)]. Order in Council 556/2012, approved and ordered July 18, 2012.

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, orders that the Meat Inspection Regulation, B.C. Reg. 349/2004, is amended as follows:

Section 2 is amended

(

a) by striking out " or " at the end of subsection (1) (

a) and by repealing subsection (1) (b), and

(

b) by adding the following subsection:

(1.1) The Act does not apply to the slaughter of an animal if the following conditions are met:

(

a) the slaughter occurs on the premises of the animal's owner;

(

b) the slaughter is for the purposes of the personal consumption of the animal by

(

i) the owner,

(ii) the owner's immediate household,

(iii) the owner's immediate family members, or

(iv) the owner's employees, if the employees are employed on the premises where the slaughter occurs;

(

c) no part of the animal is sold to or otherwise made available for consumption by the public.

Section 4 is amended by striking out " Subject to

section 2 (1), " and substituting " Subject to

section 2 (1) and (1.1), ".
