OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Education dated June 7, 2001, and pursuant to

Section 10 of

Chapter 254 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Libraries Act, is pleased to: (

a) appoint James Louis MacAlpine of Digby, Digby County, as a member of the Annapolis Valley Regional Library Board for a term of office of three years commencing June 29, 2001; (

b) appoint Ruby McDorman of R.R.#2 Debert, Colchester County, as a member of the Colchester-East Hants Regional Library Board for a term of office of three years commencing June 29, 2001; (

c) appoint the following persons as members of the Cumberland Regional Library Board, each for a term of office of three years commencing June 29, 2001: Sondra Cox-Wright of R.R.#4 Amherst, Cumberland County; Sara MacRae of R.R.#4 Pugwash, Cumberland County; (

d) appoint Mary Margaret MacLean of R.R.#1 Whycocomagh, Inverness County, as a member of the Eastern Counties Regional Library Board for a term of office of three years commencing June 29, 2001; (

e) appoint the following persons as members of the Halifax Regional Library Board, each for a term of office of three years commencing June 29, 2001: Betty Thomas of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality; Alex Handyside of West Porter's Lake, Halifax Regional Municipality; and (

f) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against James Louis MacAlpine, Ruby McDorman, Sondra Cox-Wright, Sara MacRae, Mary Margaret MacLean, Betty Thomas and Alex Handyside and indemnify them from personal liability provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointments and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
