Statute: Public Highways Act Expropriation Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Public Works dated July 16, 2025, and pursuant to

Section 18 of

Chapter 371 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Highways Act, and

Section 80 of

Chapter 156 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Expropriation Act , is pleased to: (

a) extinguish the right of the public to use that portion of the public highway, identified as Parcel A and Parcel B, containing a combined total area of 4,248 square metres (1.05 acres), located at or near Little Harbour, Pictou County, more particularly described in

Schedule "A" and as shown on

Schedule "B" attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; (

b) authorize the conveyance of the parcel of surplus land, Parcel A, to Barry Craig Hynes of Little Harbour, Pictou County for $1,056.64 plus $147.93 of applicable HST for a total purchase and sale price of $1,204.57; (

c) authorize the conveyance of the parcel of surplus land, Parcel B, to Little Harbour Fire Department of Little Harbour, Pictou County for $302.72 plus $42.38 of applicable HST for a total purchase and sale price of $345.10; (

d) authorize the Minister of Public Works to make and execute a Deed of Conveyance in such form as the Minister determines to effect the conveyance of the land herein above described; and (

e) authorize the Minister of Public Works to execute such documents as may be necessary to achieve the purposes of this Order.
