Bill 31 (Legislature 13, Session 4)

L13 S4 6161

Alberta — Bills

No. 31 4th Session, 13th Legislature, Alberta 6 Elizabeth II, 1958 BILL 31 A Bill to amend The Libraries Act HON. MR. PATRICK Printed by L. S. WALL, Printer to the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty Edmonton, Alberta. 1958

Explanatory Note 2.

Section 17 (1) reads: "For the purposes of this section, "elector" means a person entitled to vote on a money by-law in the municipality." That is, "elector" has in

section 17, which makes provision for the establishment of public municipal libraries, the meaning of proprietary elector. However the term occurs in sections 19(1) (b), 19(2) (b), 219(2), 29(3) and 31 of this Part, and by implication means in these sections general electors. Since the electors are required to vote on what amounts to money by-laws, this amendment will make it clear that proprietary electors are intended where the term "elector" is used in this Part.
