provides that that Act comes into force on Proclamation; and

Driving were proclaimed in force on April 9, 2018; and

WHEREAS it is expedient to proclaim sections 17 to 29 of

An Act to Reduce

Cannabis and Alcohol Impaired Driving in force on December 18, 2018:

NOW KNOW YE THAT by and with the advice and consent of Our Executive

Council of Our Province of Alberta, by virtue of the provisions of the said Act

hereinbefore referred to and of all other power and authority whatsoever in Us vested

in that behalf, We have ordered and declared and do hereby proclaim sections 17 to

December 18, 2018.

communications for the investigation, detection, prevention and prosecution of

offences in your jurisdiction.

Interception of private communication is very important for detection,

prevention and investigation of serious criminal offences.

One example provided by a law enforcement agency was a particular cold-case

murder investigation in which wiretap provided significant information to allow

investigators to change their focus away from previously targeted individuals. In

terms of wiretap, it was a success even though no convictions resulted.
