On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, orders that the Societies Regulation, B.C. Reg. 216/2015, is amended by adding the following section:

Exclusion for COVID-19 relief funding

12.1

(1) In this section, "COVID-19 relief funding" means funding, by way of a grant, a loan without interest or with interest substantially below the market rate or similar funding, provided by a government, body or other organization referred to in any of paragraphs (

a) to (

e) of the definition of "government funding" in

section 190 of the Act, received

(

a) after March 18, 2020 and on or before the date on which the last extension of the declaration of a state of emergency made March 18, 2020 under

section 9 (1) of the Emergency Program Act expires or is cancelled, and

(

b) in connection with the COVID-19 pandemic, as defined in the COVID-19 Related Measures Act .

(2) COVID-19 relief funding is excluded from the definition of "government funding" in

section 190 of the Act.
