Bill 71 BILL 71 1978 THE STATUTE LAW CORRECTION ACT, 1978 (Assented to , 1978) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, enacts as follows: 1 The Agricultural Chemicals Act is amended (

a) by repealing

section 11 (4) (b), and (

b) by renumbering

section 17(3) as enacted by

section 16(

b) of The Agricultural Chemicals Amendment Act, 1978 as

section 17(2. J). 2 The Auditor General Act is amended in

section 1 (J) (

g) by adding "the" before "Ombudsman". 3 The Beverage Container Act, 1977 is amended in

section 5(

a) by adding "and" ajier "retailer,". 4 The Brand Act is amended (

a) in

section 10(2) by striking out "satsfied" and substituting "satisfied", and (

b) in

section 10(2) (

b) by striking out "forwith" and substitut ing "forthwith". 5 The Cancer Treatment and Prevention Act is amended in

section 130) by striking out "the" before "March 31". 6 The Change of Name Act, 1973 is amended in

section 14(2)(

e) by striking out "evidence of information" and substituting "evi dence or information". 7 The Condominium Property Act is amended in

section 32(

J) by striking out "condomiunium" and substituting "condominium". 1

Explanatory Notes 1 The first amendment corrects a drafting omission.

Section 11 (4) (

b) is redundant having regard to

section 17 (4) of the Act. The second amend ment corrects a numbering error. 2 Corrects a drafting omission. 3 Corrects a drafting omission. 4 Corrects typographical errors. 5 Corrects a drafting omission. 6 Corrects a typographical error. 7 Corrects a typographical error. 1

8 The Co-operative Marketing Associations and Rural Utilities Guarantee Act is amended in Forms 2, 3 and 4 in the

Schedule by striking out "The Co-operative Marketing Associations Guarantee Act" and substituting "The Co-operative Marketing Associations and Rural Utilities Guarantee Act". 9 The Criminal Injuries Compensation Act is amended in

Schedule 2 (

a) by striking out "221" and substituting "233", and (

b) by striking out" 222" and substituting" 234". 10 The Department qf Agriculture Act is amended in

section I 2.1 (1.2) by striking out "subsection (2)" and substituting "sub

section 0.1)". 11 The Department of the Attorney General Act is amended in

section 5 (2) raj (

a) by striking out "magistrates" and substituting "provincial judges", and (

b) by striking out "coroners" and substituting "medical examiners" . 12 The Family Court Act is amended (

a) in

section 4 (2) (

e) by striking out "section 186, subsection (2), paragraph (a)" and substituting "paragraph 197 (2) (a)" , and (

b) in

section 4 (2) (

j) by striking out "section 231, subsection 0)" and substituting "subsection 2450)". 13 The Fatality InqUiries Act is amended in

section 1 I (

a) and 12(

a) by adding ", 1976" after "The Corrections Act". 14 The Alberta Health Care Insurance Act is amended in

section 35(3) by striking out "as of the date as of the" and substituting '~as of the date the". 15 The Homestead Lease Loan Act is amended in

section 10(2) by striking out "Lands and Forests" and substituting "Energy and Natural Resources". 2

16 The Alberta Hospitals Act is amended (

a) by renumbering

section 35(5.1) as enacted by

section 56 of The Fatality Inquiries Act as

section 35(5.1. J), and (

b) in

section 35(5.2) by striking out "subsection (5.1)" and substituting "subsection (5.1.1)". 17 The Hospital Visitors Committee Act is amended in

section 1 (

c) OiiJ by striking out "or by The Alberta Hospital Services Commission" . 18 The Alberta Insurance Act is amended (

a) in

section 2, clause 18, by striking out "workmen's" and substituting "workers' ", and (

b) in

section 2, clause 66, 0) by striking out "workmen's" and substituting "wor kers' ", and OiJ by striking out "worker" . "workman" and substituting 19 The Metric Conversion Statutues Amendment Act, 1977 is amended in

Schedule F,

section 1 by striking out "933.5" and substituting "935". 20 The Municipal Government Act is amended (

a) by renumbering

section 212.2 as

section 212.2(J), and (

b) in

section 212.2(2) by striking out "Railway Relocation and CrOSSings Act" and substituting "Railway Relocation and Crossing Act". 21 The Names o/Homes Act is amended (

a) in

section 2.1 by adding "of Agriculture" after "Minist er", and (

b) in

section 10.1 by adding "of Agriculture" afier "Minist er" wherever it occurs. 22 The Partnership Act is amended in

section 63 by striking out "in the addition" and substituting' 'in addition". 3

16 Corrects numbering errors. 17 Corrects a drafting omission. 18 Corrects references. 19 Corrects a measurement that should have been rounded off. 20 Corrects a numbering error and a typographical error. 21 Corrects drafting omissions. 22 Corrects a drafting error. 3

23 The Petty Trespass Act is amended in

section 8 by striking out "section 373" and substituting "section 388". 24 The Public Works Act is amended in sections 2(b)(

i) and 14 (2.1) by striking out "Highways and Transport" and substitut ing "Transportation". 25 The School Act is amended in

section 45(

c) by striking out "election a chairman" and substituting "election of a chairman". 26 The Seizures Act is amended in

section 2(

g) by striking out .... power" of distress"" and substituting ''''power of distress''''. 27 The Statutes Amendment (Grant Provisions) Act, 1977 is amended by repealing

section 6. 28 The Trade Schools Regulation Act is amended in

section 2(c) (ii) (

A) by striking out "Department of Education" and substitut ing "Department of Advanced Education and Manpower". 29 The Venereal Diseases Prevention Act is amended (

a) by repealing

section 13(J) (a) (i), (

b) in

section 13(J)(a)(ii) by striking out "section 164, sub section (1), paragraph (d)" and substituting "paragraph 175(1) (d)", (

c) in

section 13(a)(iii) by striking out "section 182, subsec tion (1)" and substituting "subsection 193 (1) ", (d) ,in

section 13(J) (a) (iv) by striking out "section 182, sub sectIOn (2)( paragraph (

a) or (b)" and substituting "para graphs 193 2)(

a) or (b)", and (e) .In

section 13(J)(a)(

v) by striking out "section 184, sub sectIOn (1)" and substituting "subsection 195(1)". 30 The Water Resources Act is amended in

section 24(

J) by striking out "Canada Land Surveys Act" and substituting "Canada Lands Surveys Act". 31 This Act,comes into force on the day upon which it is assented to. 4
