OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated January 10, 2023, and pursuant to Sections 7 and 84 of
Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act , and subsection 10(1) of
Chapter 70 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Civil Service Act , and subsection 18(1) of
Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the
Interpretation Act , is pleased, effective January 23, 2023, to: (
a) revoke the appointment of Rosalind Penfound as Acting Deputy Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development; (
b) revoke the appointment of Elwin LeRoux as Associate Deputy Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development; (
c) appoint Elwin LeRoux as Deputy Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development; (
d) appoint Sara Halliday as Associate Deputy Minister of Education and Early Childhood Development; (
e) fix and determine the salary of Elwin LeRoux to be at such rate as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier in accordance with the Senior Officials Pay Plan as it applies to Deputy Ministers; (
f) fix and determine the salary of Sara Halliday to be at such rate as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier in accordance with the Senior Officials Pay Plan as it applies to Associate Deputy Ministers; (
g) designate Sara Halliday as a deputy head within the meaning of the Civil Service Act ; and (
h) direct that Sara Halliday shall receive all customary benefits associated with the position of deputy head, including participation in the Province of Nova Scotia Long Term Disability Plan and such other benefits as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier.
