An Act to remove the debt retirement charge Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Ontario, enacts as follows: 1 Subsection 85 (4) of the Electricity Act, 1998 is amended by striking out “before April 1, 2018” and substituting “before the day the Retiring the Debt Retirement Charge Act, 2017 receives Royal Assent”. Commencement This Act comes into force on the day it receives Royal Assent.

Short title The

short title of this Act is the Retiring the Debt Retirement Charge Act, 2017. ______________ EXPLANATORY NOTE Currently, subsection 85 (4) of the Electricity Act, 1998 provides that the debt retirement charge is not payable on electricity consumed after March 31, 2018. The subsection is amended to provide that the debt retirement charge is not payable on electricity consumed on or after the day this Bill receives Royal Assent.
