I, Terry Lake, Minister of Health, order that the Midwives Regulation, B.C. Reg. 281/2008, is amended as set out in the attached Schedule.

Schedule

Section 1 of the Midwives Regulation, B.C. Reg. 281/2008, is amended

(

a) by repealing the

definitions of “barbiturate” , “nurse practitioner” and “targeted substance” ,

(

b) in the definition of “prescribe” by adding “ , except a prescription issued in respect of an animal ” after “ Pharmacy Operations and Drug Scheduling Act ”, and

(

c) by repealing paragraph (

b) of the definition of “substance” .

Section 5 (1) (

k) and (

l) is repealed and the following substituted:

(

k) in respect of a drug specified in

Schedule I or IA of the Drug Schedules Regulation that is prescribed by a medical practitioner or a nurse practitioner,

(

i) compound the drug,

(ii) dispense the drug, or

(iii) administer the drug by any method;

(

l) in respect of a drug specified in

Schedule I or IA of the Drug Schedules Regulation,

(

i) prescribe the drug,

(ii) compound the drug,

(iii) dispense the drug, or

(iv) administer the drug by any method; .

Section 6 is amended

(

a) in subsection (2) by striking out “

section 5 (1) (c), (g) (iv) (

D) or (g) (vi) ” and substituting “

section 5 (1) (c), (g) (iv) (

D) or (vi) or (l) ”,

(

b) in subsection (3) by adding “ or a nurse practitioner ” after “ a medical practitioner ” and by striking out “ subsections (4) and (5) ” and substituting “ subsection (4) ”,

(

c) in subsection (4) by adding “

section ” after “ activity described in ”, and

(

d) by repealing subsection (5).
