AN ACT TO AMEND THE SCHOOL ACT (Assented to , 1987) HER MAJESTY, by and with die advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, enacts as follows: 1 The School Act is amended by this Act. 2

Section is amended (

a) by renumbering it as subsection (1); and (

b) by adding the following after subsection (1):

(2) A board shall require every school to hold an assem bly on every school day attended by all pupils and teachers at which tiie Canadian National Anthem is to be sung. 3

Section is repealed and the following is substituted: 162 Every board shall display tiie Canadian flag in every classroom of each school. 4 This Act comes into force on Proclamation. Explanatory Notes This Bill will

Section presently reads as follows: 161 A board may prescribe patriotic exercises and instruction for pupils in its schools. 3
