On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, orders that

(

a) the Laboratory Services Regulation, B.C. Reg. 52/2015, is amended as set out in the attached

Schedule 1, and

(

b) the Medical and Health Care Services Regulation, B.C. Reg. 426/97, is amended as set out in the attached

Schedule 2.

Schedule 1

Section 3 of the Laboratory Services Regulation, B.C. Reg. 52/2015, is amended

(

a) in subsection (1) (

d) by striking out " , "nurse practitioner" or "registered nurse practitioner" ", and

(

b) by repealing subsection (2) and substituting the following:

(2) A health care practitioner is prescribed as a referring practitioner for the purposes of the Act if the health care practitioner is a registrant of the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives who

(

a) is authorized to use the title "nurse practitioner", or

(

b) is authorized to use the title "registered nurse" or "registered psychiatric nurse", and

(

i) is a certified practice registrant within the meaning of the Nurses (Registered) and Nurse Practitioners Regulation, or

(ii) makes a request for a beneficiary to receive benefits in relation to communicable disease prevention and management.

Section 3.1 is repealed.

Section 6 is repealed and the following substituted:

Prescribed agency

6 For the purposes of the definition of "prescribed agency" in

section 1 of the Act, the Provincial Health Services Authority is prescribed.

Schedule 2

Section 45 of the Medical and Health Care Services Regulation, B.C. Reg. 426/97, is amended

(

a) by repealing subsection (1) and substituting the following:

(1) In this section, "RN (certified) or RPN (certified)" means either of the following who is a certified practice registrant within the meaning of the Nurses (Registered) and Nurse Practitioners Regulation:

(

a) a registered nurse;

(

b) a registered psychiatric nurse. , and

(

b) by repealing the table to subsection (2) and substituting the following:
