1 999-2000 JUSTICE SYSTEM REVIEW BILL No. 216 of 1999-2000

An Act to provide for Reviews of the Justice System (Assented to , 2000) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan, enacts as follows:

Short title This Act may be cited as The Justice System Review Act. Commission of inquiry 2(1) The Lieutenant Governor in Council shall cause a commission of inquiry to review the Saskatchewan justice system in order to determine the efficiencies and inefficiencies of the current system and to report the findings, with recommendations for improvements to the justice system.

(2) The Lieutenant Governor in Council may appoint one or more commissioners to conduct the commission of inquiry. Commencement and subsequent inquiries 3(1) The first commission of inquiry is to commence work within six months of the coming into force of this Act and shall issue a report within 1 year of the date the commission of inquiry commences its work.

(2) A new commission of inquiry is to be established every five years following the date this Act comes into force. The Public Inquires Act applies Sections 2, 3, 4 and of The Public Inquires Act apply with any necessary modification to this Act.
