EXPLANATORY NOTE NOTE EXPLICATIVE Under provisions of The Highway Traffic Act , a person who is convicted of certain offences can have his o r her vehicle forfeited or driver's licence automatically suspended. This Bill makes those provisions apply in the case of alcohol-related driving offences recent ly added to the Criminal Code . Conformément à des dispositions du Code de la route , le véhicule des personnes déclarées coupables de certaines infractions peut être confisqué ou le per mis de conduire de ces personnes peut être suspendu automatiquement.

En vertu du présent projet de loi, les dispositions en question s'appliquent également dan s le cas des infractions liées à la conduite en état d'é briété qui ont récemment été ajoutées au Code criminel . Under provisions of The Manitoba Public Insurance Corporation Act , certain no-fault accident benefits may be reduced if they benefit a person who is responsi ble for the accident and is convicted of one of several offences under the Criminal Code in relation to the accident.

This Bill makes those provisions apply in the case of alcohol-related driving offences recently a dded to the Criminal Code and in the case of street racing offences previously added to it. Conformément à des dispositions de la

a) or (b) " and substituting " 253(1)(
