The Alberta Health Care Insurance Act is he.reby amended. 2.

Section is amended (

a) as to 'subsection (1), b;y striking out the words "which shall consist of five members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, one of whom shall be designated as chairman and another as vice-chairman and the chairman of The Alberta Hospital Services Commission", (

b) by adding the following subsections after sub section (1)~·

(1.1) The Commission shall consist of the fol lowing members, namely, (

a) a chairman appointed by the Lieutenant Gov ernor in Council, (

b) the chairman of The Alberta Hospital Services Commission, (

c) a member of the Legislative Assembly ap pointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council, (

d) three members appointed by the Minister, and (

e) three members representative of the general public and appointed by the Lieutenant Gov ernor in Council.

(1.2) The Minister may designate one of the members of the Commission as vice-chairman.

Section 6, subsection (2) is amended b'lj striking out the word "Three" and substituting the word "Five". 4. This Act comes into force on the day upon which it is assented to. Explanatory Notes I.· This Bill will amend

chapter of the Revised Statutes of Alberta 1970.

Section 4, subsection (1) presently reads: 4.

(1) There is hereby created a corporation with the name "The Alberta Health Care Insurance Commission" which shall consist of five members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council. one of whom shall be designated as chairman and another as vice-chairman and the chairman of The Alberta Hospital Services Com mission.

Section 6, subsection (2) presently reads:
