Interpretation Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Attorney General and the Minister of Justice dated March 10, 2026, and pursuant to Sections 672.38 and 672.39 of

Chapter C-46 of the Revised Statutes of Canada, 1985, the Criminal Code, and

Section 18 of

Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the

Interpretation Act , hereby: (

a) revokes the appointment of Ryan Clements of Queens County as a member of the Nova Scotia Review Board under the Criminal Code , made by Order in Council 2025-64 dated March 4, 2025, effective March 31, 2026; (

b) reappoints Dr. Michael Teehan of Halifax Regional Municipality as a Psychiatrist member of the Nova Scotia Review Board under the Criminal Code for a term of three years commencing March 31, 2026; (

c) appoints Karen Quigley of Pictou County and Kimberley Tipert of Lunenburg County, as members of the Nova Scotia Review Board under the Criminal Code , both for a term of three years commencing March 31, 2026; (

d) determines that, in addition to remuneration as set out in Order in Council 2018-349 dated December 21, 2018, for time spent necessarily attending to duties as Psychiatrist members of the Nova Scotia Review Board under the Criminal Code , Dr. Michael Teehan be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling the duties as a Psychiatrist member, payable in accordance with the travel policies and guidelines of the Province of Nova Scotia applicable to civil servants; and (

e) orders that Kimberley Tipert and Karen Quigley be remunerated at the rate of $75 per hour and be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in fulfilling their duties as members of the Nova Scotia Review Board under the Criminal Code provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally payable to members of the civil service.
