Statute: Labour Board Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Labour and Advanced Education dated June 12, 2013, and pursuant to Sections 3, 5 and 6 of

Chapter 37 of the Acts of 2010, the Labour Board Act, is pleased to: (

a) appoint Gerardette M. Brown of Cape Breton Regional Municipality (River Ryan) as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of three years commencing July 9, 2013; (

b) appoint Thomas Kennedy of Cape Breton Regional Municipality (Glace Bay) as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of two years commencing July 9, 2013; (

c) appoint Dannie McDonald of Cape Breton Regional Municipality (South Bar) as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of one year commencing July 9, 2013; (

d) appoint Edward M. MacNeil of Cape Breton Regional Municipality (Sydney) as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of one year commencing July 9, 2013; (

e) appoint A. Ross Mitchell of Halifax Regional Municipality (Dartmouth) as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of two years commencing July 9, 2013; (

f) appoint Deborah Ryan of Halifax Regional Municipality (Dartmouth) as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of three years commencing July 9, 2013; (

g) appoint Fielding P. Smith of Pictou County (New Glasgow) as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of two years commencing July 9, 2013; (

h) appoint Betty Jean Sutherland of Pictou County (Westville) as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of three years commencing July 9, 2013; (

i) appoint Michael R. Tynes of Halifax Regional Municipality (Dartmouth) as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of three years commencing July 9, 2013; (

j) appoint Robert H. Wells of Cumberland County (Northport) as an employee member of the Labour Board for a term of one year commencing July 9, 2013; (

k) appoint Sylvester Atkinson of Annapolis County (Middleton) as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of three years commencing July 9, 2013; (

l) appoint George L. Fox of Halifax Regional Municipality (Halifax) as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of two years commencing July 9, 2013; (

m) appoint Andrea D. Gillis of Halifax Regional Municipality (Halifax) as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of three years commencing July 9, 2013; (

n) reappoint George L. Hall of Halifax Regional Municipality (Halifax) as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of two years commencing August 26, 2013; (

o) appoint Janet Hartlen of Queens County (Liverpool) as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of three years commencing July 9, 2013; (

p) appoint Demetri Kachafanas of Cape Breton Regional Municipality (Sydney) as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of two years commencing July 9, 2013; (

q) appoint Gordon S. MacIsaac of Cape Breton Regional Municipality (Victoria Mines) as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of two years commencing July 9, 2013; (

r) appoint Robert McArel of Halifax Regional Municipality (Dartmouth) as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of two years commencing July 9, 2013; (

s) appoint Hugh A. R. Simpson of King's County (Wolfville) as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of three years commencing July 9, 2013; (

t) reappoint Phillip Veinotte of Halifax Regional Municipality (Halifax) as an employer member of the Labour Board for a term of three years commencing August 26, 2013; (

u) fix the remuneration of each of the employer and employee members of the Labour Board in the following aggregate amounts, payable to each for their service as an employer or employee member of the Labour Board: (i) $200.00 per day for each day the member conducts a hearing as a member, or participates in necessary training; (ii) $150.00 per day for each day the member necessarily attends to the business of the Labour Board, as a member, except while conducting a hearing, or participating in necessary training; and (iii) such actual and reasonable expenses as may be incurred by the member in the discharge of their duties, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally paid to members of the civil service.
