STATUTE REVISION CORRECTION AND

MISCELLANEOUS AMENDMENTS ACT, 1998

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the

Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

1 The following revision correction regulations are confirmed and

validated and the amendments made by those regulations are given continuing effect:

B.C. Reg. 169/97;

B.C. Reg. 317/97;

B.C. Reg. 23/98;

B.C. Reg. 130/98.

Family Maintenance Enforcement Act

Section 9 of the Supplement to the Family Maintenance Enforcement Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 127, is repealed and the following substituted:

Commencement

(1) Sections 1 (b), 3, 4 and 6 come into force on January 1, 1997.

(2) Sections 1 (

a) and (c), 2, 5, 7 and 8 come into force by regulation of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

Family Relations Act

Section 9 of the Supplement to the Family Relations Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 128, is repealed and the following substituted:

Commencement

(1) Section 8 comes into force on January 1, 1997.

(2) Sections 1 to 7 come into force by regulation of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act

Section 2 of the Supplement to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 165, is repealed and the following substituted:

Commencement

(1) Section 1 (a), (b), (

d) and (

f) comes into force on January 1, 1997.

(2) Section 1 (c), (

e) and (

g) comes into force by regulation of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

Insurance Premium Tax Act

Section 7 of the Insurance Premium Tax Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 232, is amended by adding the following:

(5) Interest is payable under subsections (3) and (4) at the prescribed annual rate.

Optometrists Act

Section 10 of the Optometrists Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 342, is amended by adding the following subsection:

(3) Rules, and amendments to the rules, made by the board under this

section do not come into force until approved by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

Retroactive effect of amendment – approvals under

section 10 (3) of the Optometrists Act

7 On the coming into force of

section 6 of this Act, all approvals required

under

section 10 (3) of the Optometrists Act are deemed to have been required on

and after April 21, 1997 and any rules, or amendments to the rules, made by the board on

or after April 21, 1997 are deemed not to have come into force unless and until approved

by the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

Commencement

(1) This Act, except

section 5, comes into force by regulation of the Lieutenant Governor in Council.

(2) Section 1 (

h) of the Supplement to the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 165, is deemed to have come into force on April 21, 1997.

(3) When brought into force by regulation, the corrections and amendments made by this Act, except

section 5, are deemed to have come into force on April 21, 1997 and are retroactive to the extent necessary to give them effect on and after that date.
