OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Natural Resources dated August 26, 2008, and pursuant to

Section 4 of

Chapter 97 of the Acts of 1986,

An Act to Establish the Shubenacadie Canal Commission, is pleased to: (

a) reappoint John F. O'Connor, M.D. of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a member of the Shubenacadie Canal Commission for a term of three years commencing June 26, 2008; (

b) appoint Dr. Iain C. Taylor of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a member of the Shubenacadie Canal Commission for a term of three years commencing September 22, 2008; and (

c) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against John F. O'Connor, M.D. and Dr. Iain C. Taylor in their capacity as members of the Shubenacadie Canal Commission and indemnify them from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to this appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and, where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
