OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister responsible for the administration of the Human Rights Act, dated May 17, 2001, and pursuant to
Section 22 of
Chapter 214 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Human Rights Act, is pleased to: (
a) appoint the following persons as commissioners of the Nova Scotia Human Rights Commission, each for a term of office of two years commencing May 31, 2001: Beverley D. Johnson of Halifax Regional Municipality; Rima Majaess of Halifax Regional Municipality; Carl S. Gannon of Halifax Regional Municipality; (
b) determine that Beverley D. Johnson, Rima Majaess and Carl S. Gannon each be paid remuneration at the rate of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00) for each half day spent at duly called meetings of the Commission; and (
c) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Beverley D. Johnson, Rima Majaess and Carl S. Gannon and indemnify them from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
