An Act to Amend the Youth Assistance Act Her Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick, en- acts as follows: 1

Section 5.4 of the Y outh Assistance Act, chap- ter Y-2 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1984, is amended by adding after subsection (1) the follow- ing: 5.4(1.1) Notwithstanding any other

section of this Act, the Minister shall not reduce, alter or amend, nor make any rule or criterion allowing the reduc- tion, alteration or amendment, of any amount awarded to a qualifying student by reason of the in- come or assets of the qualifying student’s parent, step-parent, guardian, spouse, common-law spouse or any other relative upon whom the qualifying stu- dent is considered to be dependent. 5.4(1.2) Nothing in this

section shall prevent the Minister from establishing any rule or criterion, or undertaking any decision, which is necessary to en- sure compliance with rules or regulations attached to a federal government program aimed at improv- ing access to post-secondary education, on the con- dition that the rule, criterion or decision is limited in PROJET DE LOI Loi modifiant la
