BILL 214 PROJET DE LOI 214 THE NEUROFIBROMATOSIS AWARENESS MONTH ACT

LOI SUR LE MOIS DE LA SENSIBILISATION À LA NEUROFIBROMATOSE (Assented to ) (Date de sanction : )

WHEREAS neurofibromatosis (NF) is a neurological disorder affecting one in every 3,500 births, and fo r which there is no preventative treatment or cure; AND

WHEREAS NF causes tumours to form on nerves anywhere in the body, resulting in disfigurement, blindness, deafness, learning disabilities, abnorma l growth, epilepsy and cancer; AND

WHEREAS there is a need to promote awareness, education and discussion about NF to ensure that th e needs of NF patients are acknowledged, and to suppo rt research that may bring hope to patients and their families; Attendu : que la neurofibromatose (NF), trouble neurologique pour lequel il n'existe pas de traitement préventif ou curatif, touche un nouveau-né sur 3 500; que la NF entraîne la formation de tumeurs sur les nerfs dans toutes les parties du corps provoquant ainsi des défigurations, des cécités, des surdités, des troubles d'apprentissage, des croissances anormales, des épilepsies et des cancers; qu'il faut promouvoir la diffusion d'information, la sensibilisation et la discussion au sujet de la NF pour mieux faire connaître les besoins des patients atteints de ce trouble et pour appuyer des activités de recherche qui donneraient de l'espoir aux patients et à leurs familles, THEREFORE HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, enacts as follows: SA MAJESTÉ, sur l'avis et avec le consentement de l'Assemblée législative du Manitoba, édicte : Neurofibromatosis (NF) Awareness Month 1 The month of May in each year is to be known throughout Manitoba as Neurofibromatosis (NF) Awareness Month.
