Order in Council 1230/2024

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas by Order in Council, the Government of Ontario established the position of Special Advisor to review the governance of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System;

And

whereas the Lieutenant Governor in Council may determine the remuneration and expenses of a person appointed as the Special Advisor;

Therefore , pursuant to the prerogative of His Majesty the King in Right of Ontario to provide for the remuneration of advisors who serve His Majesty’s Government in Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities,

Special Advisor Remuneration

The Special Advisor shall be remunerated at the following rates for service in their role as Special Advisor, up to a maximum of $352,500 for the term of the appointment:

A rate of $1,500 per diem for service of three hours or more.

A rate of $750 per diem for service of less than three hours.

Expenses

In addition to the remuneration set out above, the Special Advisor shall be reimbursed for reasonable expenses incurred in carrying out their duties in accordance with the Management Board of Cabinet’s Travel, Meal and Hospitality Expenses Directive .
