OIC Text: The Governor in Council, on the report and recommendation of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice dated April 25, 2024, and on the recommendation of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission, and pursuant to

Section 27 of

Chapter 252 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Legal Aid Act , is pleased, effective on and after June 1, 2024, to: (

a) amend the legal aid general regulations and tariff of fees, N.S. Reg. 77/1977, made by the Governor in Council by Order in Council 77-954 dated August 9, 1977, to revise the rates paid to private lawyers providing legal aid and to establish new tariff categories, in the manner set forth in

Schedule "A" attached to and forming part of the Report and Recommendation; and (

b) order that directors of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission, other than the Chair and a director who is appointed by the Governor in Council employed in the public service of the Province, be remunerated in the amount of $150.00 for each attendance at a meeting of the Commission or a committee of the Commission to a maximum of $600.00 for each fiscal year.
