Bill 28 (Legislature 9, Session 2)

Alberta — Bills

Bill No. 28 of 1942. A BILL TO AMEND THE CROP PAYMENTS (IRRIGATED LAND SALES) ACT NOTE. The amendments made by this Act increase the maximum portion of a crop which may be claimed on purchase price or rental by Irrigation Districts and Colonization Managers from one-tenth share of root crops to one-fifth and one-fifth share of other crops to one-third share.

In the case of the company mentioned the increase is the same for root crops and is from one-fourth to one-third of other- crops~ It has been found that the share previously fixed has not always been sufficient to pay interest on purchase pri~e and irri gation rates in the case ·of a sale or taxes and irrigation rates on leased land. It is considered to be in the best interests of all concerned that the payments required should be at least sufficient to cover these charges. The amend ment also makes the Act applicable to the New West I. D.

Colonization Manager and the United Irrigation District Colonization Manager. W. S. GRAY, Acting Legislative Counsel. (This note does not form any part of the Bill but is offered in explanation of its provisions.) BILL No. 28 of 1942.
