OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Health dated January 6, 2000, pursuant to

Section 7 of

Chapter 313 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Nova Scotia Hospital Act, is pleased to: (

a) reappoint the following persons as members of the Board of Management of the Nova Scotia Hospital for a further term of office of three years commencing January 14, 2000, and ending January 14, 2003: Anne M. Cogdon of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality; Mary Jane Andrews of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality; and Dr. Eugene Nurse of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality; (

b) appoint the following person as a member of the Board of Management of the Nova Scotia Hospital for a term of office of three years commencing January 14, 2000, and ending January 14, 2003: Lucy M. Reid of Westmount, Pictou County; (

c) appoint the following persons as members of the Board of Management of the Nova Scotia Hospital for a term of office of two years commencing January 14, 2000, and ending January 14, 2002: James M. Murphy of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality; Alf F. Nielsen of Lake Echo, Halifax Regional Municipality; and (

d) determine that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Anne M. Cogdon, Mary Jane Andrews, Dr. Eugene Nurse, Lucy M. Reid, James M. Murphy and Alf F. Neilsen as members of the Board of Management of the Nova Scotia Hospital and indemnify them from personal liability provided, however, that the Province is satisfied the claim arises out of the their activities in relation to their appointments and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of a case.
