OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Justice dated September 30, 2004, and pursuant to
Section 4 of
Chapter 348 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Police Act, is pleased to: (
a) extend the appointment and designation of Nadine Cooper Mont of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a member and Chair of the Nova Scotia Police Commission for a further term of office of three years commencing December 1, 2004; (
b) reappoint the following persons as members of the Nova Scotia Police Commission, each for a further term of office of three years commencing October 28, 2004: Dr. Daniel N. Paul of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality; Paul D. Gates of New Minas, Kings County; and Betty Thomas of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality; (
c) appoint Ross Gordon Wagg of West Bay, Inverness County, as a member of the Nova Scotia Police Commission for a term of office of three years commencing October 28, 2004; and (
d) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Nadine Cooper Mont, Dr. Daniel N. Paul, Paul D. Gates, Betty Thomas and Ross Gordon Wagg and indemnify them from personal liability provided that the Province is satisfied the claims arise out of their activities in relation to their appointments and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the province will be in control of the case.
