Interpretation Act

OIC Text: The Governor in Council, on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated May 2, 2024, and pursuant to Sections 7, 17A and 84 of

Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act , subsection 10(1) of

Chapter 70 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Civil Service Act , and subsection 18(1) of

Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the

Interpretation Act , is pleased, effective May 2, 2024, to: (

a) revoke the appointment of Laura Lee Langley as Public Service Commissioner and Deputy Minister of the Public Service Commission; (

b) revoke the appointment of Melissa MacKinnon as Deputy Minister of Community Services; (

c) revoke the appointment of Craig Beaton as Associate Deputy Minister of Health and Wellness; (

d) revoke the appointment of Sandy Graves as Associate Deputy Minister of Community Services; (

e) revoke the appointment of Nicole Johnson Morrison as Associate Deputy Minister of Labour, Skills and Immigration; (

f) appoint Melissa MacKinnon as Public Service Commissioner and Deputy Minister of the Public Service Commission; (

g) appoint Craig Beaton as Deputy Minister of Community Services; (

h) appoint Kimberlee Barro as Associate Deputy Minister of Health and Wellness; (

i) appoint Sandy Graves as Associate Deputy Minister of Labour, Skills and Immigration; (

j) appoint Nicole Johnson Morrison as Associate Deputy Minister of Community Services; (

k) designate Kimberlee Barro as a deputy head within the meaning of the Civil Service Act ; (

l) direct that Kimberlee Barro shall receive benefits associated with the position of deputy head as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier; (

m) fix and determine the salary of Craig Beaton to be at such rate as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier in accordance with the Senior Officials Pay Plan as it applies to Deputy Ministers; and (

n) fix and determine the salary of Kimberlee Barro to be at such rate as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier in accordance with the Senior Officials Pay Plan as it applies to Associate Deputy Ministers.
