EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Bill would amend the Works, Services and Transportation Act by

increasing the maximum amount of a fine for parking violations on land owned or

occupied by the government of the province.

Be it enacted by the Lieutenant-Governor and

House of Assembly in Legislative Session convened, as follows:

1. Subsection 35(8) of the Works, Services and Transportation Act is repealed and the

following substituted:

(8) A person who contravenes

(

a) the regulations referred to in this section;

(

b) a condition attached to or prescribed in

respect of a permit issued under subsection (4); or

(

c) a direction of the minister referred to in

subsection (5),

is guilty of an offence and liable on

summary conviction to a fine of not less than $5 and not more than $100 and in

default of payment of the fine to imprisonment for a period not exceeding 10

days.

Commencement

2. This Act comes into force on September 1, 2015.
