OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General dated February 23, 2011, and pursuant to Sections 3 and 4 of

Chapter 252 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Legal Aid Act, is pleased to: (

a) appoint Barbara Darby as a Director of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission for a term of office of three years commencing April 5, 2011; (

b) provide that the remuneration of Barbara Darby as Director shall be at the rate of $150 for each day of meetings of the Commission or a committee of it, to a maximum of $600 for each fiscal year; (

c) direct that the reasonable expenses incurred by Barbara Darby in performing her duties associated with the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission be paid in accordance with the established guidelines approved for civil servants; and (

d) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Barbara Darby and indemnify her from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of her activities in relation to her appointment and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends her, the Province will be in control of the case.
