Order in Council 371/2018

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas by Order in Council the position of Independent Reviewer was established in order for the government to obtain independent progress reports with respect to compliance with the 2013 Jahn settlement of the terms of the order entered as a consent order with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and dated January 16, 2018 (the “Order”);

Therefore pursuant to the prerogative of Her Majesty The Queen in Right of Ontario to appoint persons to serve Her Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities, The Honourable Justice David P.

Cole, of the Ontario Court of Justice, is hereby appointed as the Independent Reviewer to provide independent progress reports with respect to compliance with the 2013 Jahn settlement and the terms of the Order, in accordance with the Terms of Reference determined by the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services, to serve at the pleasure of the Lieutenant Governor in Council for a period not exceeding two years effective from the date this Order in Council is made.
