OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Communities, Culture and Heritage dated July 21, 2011, and pursuant to subsections 12(1) and 13(2) of

Chapter 24 of the Acts of 1998, the Public Archives Act, is pleased to: (

a) appoint Bertrum MacDonald of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, as Chair of the Public Archives of Nova Scotia Board of Trustees for a term commencing August 16, 2011 and ending on September 7, 2013; (

b) order that Bertrum MacDonald be reimbursed for reasonable expenses actually incurred in fulfilling his duties as Chair, provided such reimbursements do not exceed those normally paid to members of the civil service; and (

c) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against Bertrum MacDonald of the Public Archives of Nova Scotia Board of Trustees and indemnify him from personal liability in connection with any such claim, provided, however, that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of his activities in relation to his appointment, and is not based on fraud or criminal activity, and where the Province so defends him, the Province will be in control of the case.
