Restricted Permits and Special Permits Fees Regulations

made under subsection 302(1) of the

Motor Vehicle Act

R.S.N.S. 1989, c. 293

as amended to O.I.C. 2015-96 (March 31, 2015, effective June 1, 2015), N.S. Reg. 137/2015

1 A fee of $26.10 shall be paid for a permit where one of the following conditions is stated

on the permit:

(

a) the sled described in this permit shall only be used on the highway as a trailer

when towed over snow and ice by a registered vehicle;

(

b) the reconstructed vehicle described on the reverse side having permanently

mounted thereon equipment used for sawing firewood shall only be moved on

the highway between farms where sawing is being done;

(

c) the reconstructed vehicle described in this permit having permanently mounted

thereon well-drilling equipment shall only be operated on the highway between

jobs;

(

d) the motor vehicle herein described having a spraying machine permanently

mounted thereon as part thereof is only authorized to move on the highway

between farms of the owner;

(

e) the tractor described herein shall only be operated within the limits of a

highway contract or moved between jobs;

(

f) the power grader described herein shall only be operated within the limits of a

highway contract or moved between jobs;

(

g) the within described vehicle is authorized to move on the highway between

and on the dates specified below.

4 A fee per month of one-twelfth of the annual fee for a permit shall be paid where the

permit contains the following condition:

The within described trailer is authorized to be drawn on the highway by a registered

vehicle during the period when the roads are closed pursuant to the provisions of the

Public Highways Act.

5 The fee for a special permit issued by the Registry of Motor Vehicles under clause

11(1)(

a) of the Weights and Dimensions of Vehicles Regulations made under the Motor

Vehicle Act for a vehicle or combination of vehicles that exceeds the dimensional limits set

out in those regulations shall be as follows:

(

a) for movement of the vehicle or combination of vehicles on a specified date, the

largest of the amounts set out below in the column under the heading “Single”

opposite the overdimension ranges within which the vehicle or combination of

vehicles falls;

(

b) for movement of the vehicle or combination of vehicles during a 12-month

period beginning on the date a special permit is issued, the largest of the

amounts set out below in the column under the heading “Annual” opposite the

overdimension ranges within which the vehicle or combination of vehicles

falls.

6 The fee for a special permit issued by the Registry of Motor Vehicles under clause

11(1)(

b) of the Weights and Dimensions of Vehicles Regulations made under the Motor

Vehicle Act for a vehicle or combination of vehicles that exceeds the weight limits set out

in those regulations shall be as follows:

(

a) for movement of the vehicle or combination of vehicles on a specified date, the

amount set out below in the column under the heading “Single” opposite the

weight range within which the vehicle or combination of vehicles falls;

(

b) for movement of the vehicle or combination of vehicles during a 12-month

period beginning on the date a special permit is issued, the amount set out

below in the column under the heading “Annual” opposite the weight range

within which the vehicle or combination of vehicles falls.
