SCHOOL AMENDMENT ACT, 2025

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

CLAUSE 1: [School Act,

section 85.2]

expands the authority of boards of education to provide child care programs on board properties;

changes the description of costs in relation to the fees that boards of education may charge.

Section 85.2 of the School Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 412, is amended

(

a) by repealing subsection (1) and substituting the following:

(1) A board may provide a child care program on board property if the board is a licensee. , and

(

b) in subsection (2) by striking out " a student " and substituting " a child ", by striking out " direct " and substituting " reasonable " and by adding " to the child " after " providing that child care program ".

CLAUSE 2: [School Act,

section 85.3] changes the description of costs in relation to the revenue that boards of education

may obtain.

Section 85.3 (2) is amended by striking out " direct and indirect " and substituting " reasonable ".

Commencement

3 This Act comes into force on the date of Royal Assent.

Explanatory Notes
