Section 1 of the Family Income Security Act, chap- ter 154 of the Revised Statutes, 2011, is amended by adding the following

definitions in alphabetical order: 1 L’article 1 de la

(conjoint de fait) “dependent” means a person under 19 years of age who resides with an applicant and for whom the appli- cant has responsibility. (personne à charge) “spouse” means a person who cohabits and is married to another person by virtue of a legally constituted mar- riage. (conjoint) “unit” means an applicant, the applicant’s spouse or common-law partner, if any, and any dependents of the applicant. (unité) « cohabiter »

Objectives and purposes Objets et buts 1.1 The objectives and purposes of the Act are as fol- lows: 1.1 Les objets et buts de la Loi sont les suivants : (

a) to promote and provide income security for New Brunswickers;

a) promouvoir la sécurité du revenu pour les gens du Nouveau-Brunswick et leur fournir cette sécurité; (

b) to combat poverty in the province;

c) to ensure that applicants and recipients are treated with dignity and respect.

section 7 the following: 3 La Loi est modifiée par l’adjonction, après l’arti- cle 7, de ce qui suit : Appeal of Medical Advisory Board decision Appel d’une décision de la Commission consultative médicale 7.1 An applicant or recipient or a person in need may appeal a Medical Advisory Board decision by means of an independent process to the body or bodies established or designated or the person or persons designated under the regulations, on any ground set out in the regulations and otherwise in accordance with the regulations. 7.1 Tout requérant, tout bénéficiaire ou toute personne nécessiteuse peut interjeter appel d’une décision de la Commission consultative médicale au moyen d’une pro- cédure indépendante devant l’organisme ou les orga- nismes créés ou désignés ou la personne ou les personnes désignées en vertu des règlements en invo- quant tout moyen réglementaire, ou bien de quelque au- tre manière en conformité avec les règlements pris en vertu de la présente loi. 4 The Act is amended by adding after subsection 8(2) the following: 4 La Loi est modifiée par l’adjonction après le para- graphe 8(2) de ce qui suit : 8(3) If the Lieutenant-Governor in Council approves, the Minister, on behalf of the Province, may enter into an agreement with the Minister who is duly authorized by and acting on behalf of the Government of Canada, to provide a basic income guarantee. 8(3)

a) the established rates of financial assistance, and

b) des exclusions du calcul des ressources disponi- bles. 16.1(2) In conducting a review under subsection (1), the Minister shall consider any cost of living increase, with respect to the cost to an applicant or recipient of purchasing the necessities of life, including but not lim- ited to housing, food, clothing, transportation and health care and supplies. 16.1(2) Lorsqu’il procède à l’examen prévu au para- graphe (1), le ministre prend en considération les aug- mentations du coût de la vie, s’agissant de ce qu’il en coûte au requérant ou au bénéficiaire pour se procurer les nécessités de la vie, y compris notamment pour le lo- gement, la nourriture, les vêtements, le transport ainsi que les soins et fournitures de santé.

Annual report Rapport annuel 16.2 The Minister shall submit annually to the Legisla- tive Assembly a report on the administration of this Act, including the results of the annual review under

section 16.1. 16.2 Le ministre remet chaque année à l’Assemblée lé- gislative un rapport sur l’application de la présente loi comprenant les résultats de l’examen annuel prévu à l’article 16.1. 7 This Act or any provision of it comes into force on a day or days to be fixed by proclamation. 7 La présente loi ou l’une quelconque de ses disposi- tions entre en vigueur à la date ou aux dates fixées par proclamation.
