OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated July 4, 2018, and pursuant to Sections 2A, 4 and 7 of

Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act ,

Section 10 of

Chapter 70 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Civil Service Act , and

Section 18 of

Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the

Interpretation Act , and all authority in him vested, is pleased to, effective July 5, 2018: (

a) rename the Department of Energy as the Department of Energy and Mines, which shall be presided over by the Minister of Energy and Mines; (

b) assign the supervision, direction and control of all affairs and matters relating to geoscience, mines and minerals to the Department of Energy and Mines or the Minister of Energy and Mines; (

c) rename the Department of Natural Resources as the Department of Lands and Forestry, which shall be presided over by the Minister of Lands and Forestry; (

d) revoke the appointment of Simon d’Entremont as Acting Deputy Minister of Energy; (

e) appoint Simon d’Entremont as Deputy Minister of Energy and Mines; (

f) designate Simon d’Entremont as a deputy head within the meaning of the Civil Service Act ; (

g) fix and determine the salary of Simon d’Entremont to be at such rate as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Premier in accordance with the Senior Officials Pay Plan as it applies to Deputy Ministers; and (

h) direct that Simon d’Entremont shall receive all customary benefits associated with the position of deputy head including participation in the Province of Nova Scotia Long Term Disability Plan and such other benefits as may be determined by the Deputy Minister of the Office of the Premier.
