Order in Council 357/2018

On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, by and with the advice and concurrence of the Executive Council of Ontario, orders that:

Whereas by Order in Council the position of Independent Expert on human rights and corrections was established in order for the government to obtain assistance with the implementation of the terms of the order entered as a consent order with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario and dated January 16, 2018 (the “Order”);

Therefore pursuant to the prerogative of Her Majesty The Queen in Right of Ontario to appoint persons to serve Her Majesty’s Government of Ontario in the discharge of its executive obligations and responsibilities, Kelly Hannah-Moffat, of Toronto is hereby appointed as the Independent Expert on human rights and corrections to provide assistance with the implementation of the terms of the Order, in accordance with the terms of reference determined by the Minister of Community Safety and Correctional Services, to serve at the pleasure of the Lieutenant Governor in Council for a period not exceeding one year effective from the date this Order in Council is made.
