Interpretation Act Land Titles Clarification Act
OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the President of the Executive Council dated May 18, 2023, and pursuant to
Section 4 of
Chapter 376 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Public Service Act , and
Section 18 of
Chapter 235 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the
Interpretation Act , is pleased, effective May 23, 2023, to: (
a) assign the supervision, direction and control of all affairs and matters relating to equity and anti-racism initiatives, other than the Land Titles Initiative under
Part I of the Land Titles Clarification Act , to the Minister of Justice; (
b) direct that for administrative purposes all affairs and matters relating to equity and anti-racism initiatives, other than the Land Titles Initiative under
Part I of the Land Titles Clarification Act , be attached to a division of the Department of Justice which will be known as the Office of Equity and Anti-Racism; (
c) revoke the appointment of Catherine Berliner as Chief Executive Officer and Deputy Minister of the Office of Equity and Anti-Racism Initiatives; (
d) assign to the Minister of African Nova Scotian Affairs all affairs and matters pertaining to the Land Titles Initiative under
Part I of the Land Titles Clarification Act ; and (
e) direct that for administrative purposes all affairs and matters pertaining to the Land Titles Initiative under
Part I of the Land Titles Clarification Act be attached to African Nova Scotian Affairs.
