Section 1 of the Vital Statistics Act,

chapter V-3 of the Acts of New Brunswick, 1979, is amended 3(1) L’article 1 de la

(

a) in the definition “Minister” by striking out “the Minister of Health” and substituting “the member of Executive Council designated by the Lieutenant- Governor in Council to administer the Service New Brunswick Act”;

a) à la définition « Ministre », par la suppression de « ministre de la Santé » et son remplacement par « membre du Conseil exécutif désigné par le lieutenant-gouverneur en conseil pour l’application de la Loi portant sur Services Nouveau-Brunswick »; (

b) in the definition “Registrar General” by striking out “by the Minister” and substituting “by the Regis- trar General”.

Section 2 of the Act is amended 3(3) L’article 2 de la Loi est modifié (

a) by repealing subsection (1) and substituting the following:

a) par l’abrogation du paragraphe (1) et son rem- placement par ce qui suit : 2(1) The Lieutenant-Governor in Council shall appoint a Registrar General of Vital Statistics. 2(1) Le lieutenant-gouverneur en conseil nomme un re- gistraire général des statistiques de l’état civil. (

Section 30 of the Act is amended by adding after subsection (1) the following: 3(4) L’article 30 de la Loi est modifié par l’adjonction après le paragraphe (1) de ce qui suit : 30(1.1) The Registrar General may designate an appro- priate employee of a regional health authority or a coroner to act on his or her behalf for the purpose of issuing a burial permit under subsection (1). 30(1.1) Le registraire général peut désigner un employé d’une régie de la santé ou un coroner qui lui semble être la personne indiquée pour agir en son nom lorsqu’il s’agit de délivrer un permis d’inhumer prévu au paragra- phe (1). 3(5)

Section 39.1 of the Act is amended 3(5) L’article 39.1 de la Loi est modifié (

a) by adding after paragraph (

c) the following:

(c.1) upon the request of the Department of Veterans’ Affairs for the purpose of determining whether the cause of death is related to the disability for which the deceased received pension benefits; c.1) à la demande du ministère des Anciens Combat- tants afin de déterminer s’il y a un lien entre la cause du décès et l’invalidité pour laquelle le défunt recevait des prestations de pension; (c.2) upon the request of a spouse or other member of the deceased’s family for the purpose of settling an es- tate, legal proceedings or insurance claim, determining an entitlement to pension benefits emanating from the United States of America or providing information that may be relevant for medical purposes to the person making the request or on whose behalf the request is made; c.2) à la demande du conjoint ou d’un autre membre de la famille du défunt pour le règlement d’une succes- sion, d’une instance ou d’une réclamation d’assurances, pour déterminer le droit à des prestations de pension provenant des États-Unis d’Amérique ou pour donner des renseignements qui peuvent s’avérer pertinents pour son propre dossier médical ou pour le dossier mé- dical d’une autre personne pour qui la demande est faite; (
