LUNAR NEW YEAR ACT
This Bill establishes Lunar New Year as the date of the second new moon following winter solstice or, if an intercalary month intervenes between the date of winter solstice and the date of the second new moon, the date of the third new moon following winter solstice. It also establishes the month beginning on Lunar New Year as Lunar New Year and Spring Festival Celebration Month.
HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:
Lunar New Year
1 Lunar New Year is
(
a) the date of the second new moon following the winter solstice; or
(
b) if an intercalary month intervenes between the date of the winter solstice and the date of the second new moon, the date of the third new moon following the winter solstice.
Lunar New Year and Spring Festival Celebration Month
2 The month beginning on Lunar New Year is Lunar New Year and Spring Festival Celebration Month.
Commencement
3 This Act comes into force on the date of Royal Assent.
Explanatory Note
