OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General dated April 14, 2000, pursuant to
Section 3 of
Chapter 252 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Legal Aid Act, is pleased to: (
a) appoint the following persons as directors of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission each for a term of three years commencing May 1, 2000: (
i) A. William Cox, Q.C., of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality; (ii) Vincent B. MacDonald of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality; (iii) J. Michael Kuna of Sydney, Cape Breton Regional Municipality; (iv) Linda Pellerine of Trenton, Pictou County; and (
v) Betty Josey of Dartmouth, Halifax Regional Municipality; (
b) reappoint Angus Schurman of Halifax, Halifax Regional Municipality, as a director of the Nova Scotia Legal Aid Commission for a term of three years commencing January 14, 2000; (
c) order that the Province shall defend, negotiate or settle claims or charges made against A. William Cox, Q.C., Vincent B. MacDonald, J. Michael Kuna, Linda Pellerine, Betty Josey and Angus Schurman and indemnify them from personal liability, provided that the Province is satisfied that the claim arises out of their activities in relation to their appointments and is not based on fraud or criminal activity and where the Province so defends them, the Province will be in control of the case.
