OIC Text: The Governor in Council on the report and recommendation of the Minister of Justice and Attorney General dated May 13, 2004, and pursuant to

Section 12 of

Chapter 103 of the Revised Statutes of Nova Scotia, 1989, the Corrections Act, and

Section 25 of

Chapter 38 of the Acts of 2001, the Youth Justice Act, and Sections 30 and 85 of

Chapter 1 of the Statutes of Canada, 2002, the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is pleased to, effective April 1, 2004: (

a) designate the Southwest Nova Scotia Correctional Facility as a correctional facility for the purposes of holding adult offenders; (

b) revoke the designation of the Yarmouth Correctional Centre (built in 1862) as a correctional facility; and (

c) revoke the designation of the Shelburne Youth Centre as a place of detention and custody, a place of temporary detention, a custody facility with the least degree of restraint of the young person, and a place of closed/secure custody.
