Wall, Queen's Printer, Edmonton BILL THE FINANCIAL ADMINISTRATION AMENDMENT ACT, 1972 ( Assented to ,1972) HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis~}ative Assembly of Alberta, enacts as foHows: 1. The Financial Administration Act is hereby amended. 2.

Section is alnended by striking out subsection (2) and by substituting the following:

(2) The Auditor shall be paid a salary at the rate of (a) $32,000 a year, effective as of January 1, 1971, and (b) $34,000 a year, effective as of January 1, 1972, which shall be charged to and paid out of the General Revenue Fund. 3.

Section is renumbered as subsection (1) and the following subse.ction is added after renumbered subsec tion (1):

(2) Where the Legislative Assembly is adjourned for a period of lTIOre than 14 days then, for the purposes of subsection (1) the Assembly shall be d'eemed not to be in session during the period of the adjournment. 4. This Act comes into force on the day upon which it is assented to. Explanatory Notes I. This Bill will amend -chapter of the Revised Statutes of Alberta 1970. 2. Increase in salary of Provincial Auditor from $30,000 to $32,000 per year, effective January 1, 1971, and from $32,000 to $34,000 per year effective January 1, 1972. 3.

Section authorizes the issue of special warrants "at any time the Legislative Assembly is not in session". In the event that the ,Assembly was adjourned for a lengthy period, as in the case of a summer recess, it might be said to be still technically "in Session" inasmuch as there had been no prorogation. To remove doubt, the new subsection (2) will allow for special warrants to be issued during a recess of more than 14 days, just as if the Assembly had been prorogued.
