EMERGENCY AND DISASTER MANAGEMENT AMENDMENT ACT, 2025

HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

CLAUSE 1: [Emergency and Disaster Management Act,

section 6] provides for the establishment of a certain committee by the minister in the exercise of the minister’s powers under subsection (1).

Section 6 of the Emergency and Disaster Management Act, S.B.C. 2023, c. 37, is amended by adding the following subsection:

(1.1) In carrying out the powers conferred under subsection (1), the minister must establish a committee to support the development of a provincial organization, to be called BC Volunteer Corps, that has the purpose of

(

a) encouraging and facilitating volunteerism for the purposes of this Act, and

(

b) creating a centralized platform for individuals to access volunteer opportunities and training programs.

Commencement

2 This Act comes into force on the date of Royal Assent.

Explanatory Note

CLAUSE 1: [Emergency and Disaster Management Act,

section 6] provides for the establishment of a certain committee by the minister in the exercise of the minister’s powers under subsection (1).
