On the recommendation of the undersigned, the Administrator, by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council, orders that the

Schedule to the Independent School Act , R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 216, is amended as set out in the attached Appendix.

Appendix

Section 3 of the

Schedule to the Independent School Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 216, is amended

(

a) in subsection (1) by striking out “ is to be issued ” and substituting “ is to be issued or have renewed ”, and

(

b) by repealing subsection (1) (

d) and substituting the following:

(

d) the teachers of the independent school are

(

i) certified teachers, or

(ii) if no certified teachers are available to teach a particular class or classes, teachers who

(

A) have qualifications established by the authority, and

(

B) teach the particular class or classes for 20 or fewer consecutive teaching days.

2 Sections 4 and 5 are amended by striking out “ is to be issued ” and substituting “ is to be issued or have renewed ”.

Section 6 is amended

(

a) in subsection (1) by striking out “ is to be issued ” and substituting “ is to be issued or have renewed ”, and

(

b) by repealing subsection (1) (

d) and substituting the following:

(

d) the teachers of the independent school are

(

i) certified teachers, or

(ii) if no certified teachers are available to teach a particular class or classes, teachers who

(

A) have qualifications established by the authority, and

(

B) teach the particular class or classes for 20 or fewer consecutive teaching days; .
